Within the framework of the Muñas research project, funded by the PROCIENCIA fund, an online coordination meeting was held to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between our university and Nacional José María Arguedas University. The meeting was moderated by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan ÖZTÜRK, and included contributions from our Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Caner ÖZDEMİR and Faculty of Science lecturer Prof. Dr. Faheem Shehzad BALOCH.

The meeting, held on January 15, 2026, was attended by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan ÖZTÜRK, Coordinator of External Relations and Projects Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit İZGİ ONBAŞILI, Faculty of Science lecturer Prof. Dr. Faheem Shehzad BALOCH, Rector Dr. Edgar Luis Martínez Huamán and relevant faculty members from Nacional José María Arguedas University in Peru.

During the meeting, our Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Caner ÖZDEMİR... Caner ÖZDEMİR provided information on Mersin University's research infrastructure, scientific production capacity, and strategic research potential. Furthermore, a general presentation of the planned collaboration activities within the framework of the Muñas research project was given, along with introductions of officials and researchers from both universities, and information sharing about the laboratories, campuses, and academic infrastructure of both institutions. At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their mutual goodwill regarding taking the necessary steps to develop academic cooperation between our university and Nacional José María Arguedas University.
