PRIMA Programme 2026 Calls for Proposals are Now Open!

The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) Programme, which supports multi-partner international projects in the areas of water management, food systems, and the agri-food value chain in the Mediterranean region, has opened its 2026 calls for proposals.


Projects to be supported under the PRIMA Programme are divided into two sections:


Project proposals received under Section 1 will be supported with funds allocated to the PRIMA Programme from the Horizon Europe Programme. Applications under Section 1 of the PRIMA Programme should only be submitted to PRIMA. Section 1 - 2026 Call Titles:


Topic 1.1.1-2026 (IA): Decentralized brackish water desalination for climate-resilient and resource-efficient Mediterranean agriculture.


Topic 1.2.1-2026 (IA): Sustainable and alternative next-generation animal feeds for circular and resilient Mediterranean agricultural systems.


Topic 1.3.1-2026 (IA): Sustainable on-site transformation/processing of perishable Mediterranean agricultural-food products.


Nexus Theme (cross-sectional)


Topic 1.4.1-2026 (CSA): Institutionalization and scaling up of the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice for cross-sector governance and policy adoption.


Project proposals received under Section 2 will be supported by funds committed to the PRIMA Program by national funding organizations. In addition to a joint application to PRIMA, research teams in project consortia must also apply to their respective national funding organizations. Teams from Turkey participating in consortia will submit their national applications to TÜBİTAK via https://uidb-pbs.tubitak.gov.tr/. Project proposals submitted from Turkey under this call will be supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1071 - International Cooperation Projects Support Program. Since non-compliance with the application rules may result in the application being returned without evaluation, it is necessary to carefully review the national application rules before applying.

Section 2 - 2026 Call Titles:


Topic 2.1.1-2026 (RIA): Utilizing ecosystem functions and improving water allocation for the conservation and restoration of intermittent (seasonal) streams in the Mediterranean.


Topic 2.2.1-2026 (RIA): Novel remote and non-intrusive ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) monitoring and control systems against disease and pest infestations.


Topic 2.3.1-2026 (RIA): Strengthening Mediterranean food value chains through context-aware digital traceability.
