Mersin University aims to conduct independent and innovative research in fundamental and applied fields by embracing an approach that supports social development and generates and disseminates competitive knowledge within the framework of ethical values, with the participation of all stakeholders.
Principles:
- For a sustainable future, it acts in accordance with human rights, animal rights, environmental ethics, and national and international ethical principles in conducting all research and reporting and sharing the results.
- It prioritizes research areas and encourages innovative product and service-oriented scientific research, taking into account scientific and technological developments and sustainable development goals, in line with national policies, the needs of the region and the university, and the potential of researchers and infrastructure.
- It ensures the conduct and dissemination of studies that are sensitive to social problems and benefit society.
- Mersin University ensures the integration of research activities with education and training.
- It contributes to the development of national/international, university/industry collaborations and the transfer of knowledge to the sector.
- It develops environmentally friendly methods and contributes to the application of these methods in the production of various products.
- It contributes to the university's national and international recognition through its scientific, artistic, and technological studies. It aims to increase the number of researchers working in diverse disciplines and multidisciplinary studies.
- It opposes any action that negatively impacts the impartial and objective conduct and publication of research. It safeguards researchers' autonomy and academic freedom against any pressure on academic activities conducted within legal boundaries.
- To ensure that research contributes to social benefit and enhances the potential for research collaboration, it ensures access to all scientific studies produced within its organization, observing copyright legislation and the principle of confidentiality in bilateral collaborations.
- It supports researchers in conducting scientific research and seeking funding for these research, provides consultancy and support services on patent and commercialization matters. It allocates a portion of its budget, determined by legislation, to conduct research activities, establish/improve the necessary infrastructure, and enhance the quality of scientists.
- It supports researchers to support and facilitate the transfer of research outputs to relevant sectors. It protects intellectual property rights through the strategies it implements in intellectual property and commercialization initiatives.
- Mersin University evaluates its research performance annually and makes the necessary institutional arrangements to achieve national and international standards.
